TONYA WINBUSH
EMERGING LEADER

Welcome
Welcome—I'm glad you're here. I am a local leader passionate about advocating for and inspiring my community. Take a look around to learn more about my work, ideas, and the impact I hope to make.
MORE ABOUT ME
Born and raised in Anderson, South Carolina, I grew up believing neighbors are family and small kindnesses matter. After returning from active duty in 2000 and later serving in the Army National Guard (2009–2016), I built a life centered on my four daughters while pursuing studies in public service, criminal justice, and communications. My experiences in service and school shaped a leadership style grounded in listening, showing up, and solving problems together. I’ve worked with local youth through New Foundations, led the Anderson County Democratic Party, and helped charter the Anderson League of Women Voters. Today, I serve as Secretary of the Anderson County Branch of the NAACP and remain active in VFW Post 6089, staying closely connected to the community I call home.

Anderson City Council Candidate
Vote April 7th
I’m running for Anderson City Council, Seat 5—Proven Service. United Solutions.—because the lessons of my life are simple: invest in our youth, keep our neighborhoods safe, and make sure housing and veterans’ services work for real families. If you’re ready for practical, community-centered leadership that listens, learns, and acts, join me.
